As the nickname indicates, the sneaker was inspired by the popular Playstation 3 gaming system, with its black colorway and Playstation-like reflective side panel piece. The shoe also shows great use of mesh and patent leather. Originally inspired by the high-speed Japanese Bullet train, the Air Max 97 has been a favorite of sneaker enthusiasts for years. The first colorway released was metallic silver, featured three reflective lines around the upper and was noted for its space age “glow.” Throughout the years the sleek linear design and full-length visible Air-sole unit has remained the same, but like most of Nike’s popular sneakers it has been released in numerous sought-after colorways.
